Bajaj Auto reports an increase of 18% in its total sales for December. Rise in exports in one of the major factors for the increase in sales.
Home-grown automaker Bajaj Auto is one of the best-selling two-wheeler brands in the country. Primary factors for this success include the mass-produced motorcycles like CT100, Platina and Pulsar range.
For the month of December, the brand recorded a sales figure of 3.46 Lakh units. With this figure, it has recorded an 18% growth in the overall sales compared to December 2017, when the sales figure touched 2.92 Lakh units.
Main reasons for the growth is because of an increase in its exports. For the month of December, the exports saw a rise of 16%, from 1.43 Lakh units in December 2017 to 1.65 Lakh units.

Domestic sales have increased to 21%, from 1.49 Lakh units to 1.80 Lakh units in December 2018.
The best selling two-wheelers in Bajaj’s stable include Bajaj Platina, CT 100 and the entire Pulsar range. The Pulsar range includes total 7 motorcycles, ranging from 150cc to 220cc.
In November 2018, Platina made 62,555 units, seeing a Y-o-Y rise of 21%. CT 100 made around 56,864 units, with a rise of 145% Y-o-Y. Pulsar 150 is the third highest selling from the stable at 53,524 units that month. Compared to November 2017, it saw a rise of 99%.
However, there are certain important products in the lineup, which are not selling great. The list includes Bajaj Dominar, 220 Avenger and V15 (Vikrant). These specific models have seen a considerable decline for the past few months.

Dominar has seen the most notable decline over the past few months. One of the strongest reasons we believe is a high-priced Bajaj motorcycle. Generally, people prefer affordable bikes from brands like Hero and Bajaj Auto.
Bajaj Dominar is a power cruiser with a massive 373cc engine, that is borrowed from Duke 390. The cruiser gets many premium features, distinguishing itself from the typical Bajaj bikes.
We speculate that in a month or two, the entire two-wheeler sales will be volatile. Owing to the upcoming safety regulations, all the two-wheelers above 125cc will be updated with ABS soon.

While some of the bikes already come with one, many are still left to get the update. So till April 2019, the two-wheeler makers will try to sell off the existing stocks at huge discounts.
