A prominent Australian car expert takes the 5-door Suzuki Jimny off-road to test its capabilities. Remember, India exports many models to various parts of the world including Down Under. Jimny is an iconic vehicle that has been around for over 5 decades across the globe. Its no-nonsense nature and rugged off-roading capabilities are what people buy it for. However, it has always been a 3-door model. For the first time in its history, the more practical 5-door version was launched in India last year. Apart from that, it gets all the modern features like a touchscreen infotainment system, steering controls, storage space, USB socket, automatic climate control with physical knobs, hard plastics on the dashboard and door panels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, decent space in the second row and a useable 211-litre boot space. All in all, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny offers everything a regular user would need.
Driving Impressions
Now, let us come to the main part of this video. The host takes this Jimny to a rather hardcore off-road track. There are all sorts of undulations and obstacles on the rough terrain. However, Jimny takes everything in its stride and conquers the terrain confidently. The host even goes as far as saying that he feels better in this SUV in comparison to the large premium off-roaders like the Toyota Land Cruiser. The compact dimensions ensure nimbleness and great manoeuvrability. It is able to glide over a large rocky surface without breaking a sweat. The ground clearance is ample to move over the uneven surface. Overall, the Jimny shows why it features among the best lightweight off-roading machines on the planet.
