SUVs like the old Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio Getaway truck has done immensely well on the sales charts. However, things have really taken an even more positive turn with the likes of the XUV700 and Scorpio N. For now, let us take a look at the details of what the owner thinks about his SUV via his YouTube channel called Daniel Snare.
Australian Reviews Mahindra Scorpio N
Pros
- Value For Money – The owner mentions that the Mahindra Scorpio N is an insane value-for-money vehicle. He compares the price with the Isuzu MU-X. For the same price, he was able to buy the Scorpio N, get numerous accessories and still have some spare cash. That is how affordable it is on the pocket. Not only that, he says that the reliability is great and even gives an example of a courier company where this vehicle has been driven for over 600,000 km without any major issues.
- Solid Interior – Next up, the interior of the Mahindra Scorpio N feels tough and solid. The fit-and-finish is impressive. Even after using it for 45,000 km over off-roading trails and city driving, the components are in place. There are no squeals or issues with the components which can’t be said for every vehicle out there.
- Off-Road Capabilities – Arguably the most impressive aspect of the Scorpio N is its insane off-roading capabilities. The owner mentions that the rear differential lock has pulled him out of any tough situations easily. Additionally, he mentions that this SUV glides on the sandy beaches without getting bogged down. That is a testament to the capabilities and prowess of the SUV.
- Second-Row Comfort – A rather surprisingly good area in the Mahindra Scorpio N is the second-row captain seats. People often think what is the need for having two individual seats in the second row. However, the host clarifies that it presents great opportunities for the rear passengers to have a liberal space to even stack their belongings in the gap between the seats. Also, people use this location to carry their pets on short journeys.
- Drivability – Finally, the Mahindra Scorpio N is a great vehicle across a diverse range of applications. The host has been using it on different road conditions including city traffic, highways, beaches and off-roading tracks. He confirms that the performance is more than enough in most situations. The suspension is great even in stock settings. Even when you are towing something with the Scorpio N, you won’t feel a great strain on the engine or pulling power. Hence, the ride quality, handling and pickup are all impressive.
Cons
- Leakage During Rain – The first issue that the owner faces is when he parks his SUV in reverse on an incline in his driveway during the rain. When he opens the boot door of the car, the water leaks into the inside of the car. He mentions that this is probably a unique situation and not something that everyone will face. Still, he wishes to mention it for transparency.
- Start/Stop Function – This is a common issue that a lot of Mahindra Scorpio N owners have reported in recent times. When the vehicle comes to a standstill at a traffic light, the engine shuts down. Also, when the driver releases the brake pedal, the vehicle starts again. However, the start/stop function is a bit confusing and it switches on and off sometimes unexpectedly. But he also mentions that there will likely be a software update to fix this problem soon.
- Uneven Tyre Issue – Interestingly, some people online have reported uneven tyre wear after around 10,000 km for some reason. However, this is something that the host mentions he has experienced with many other car manufacturers as well. To fix this, you just need to maintain the health of the tyres with regular wheel alignment.
- Software Quirk – This is yet another quirk pertaining to the software. Once in a while, there will be some issues with the Hill Hold System. It times out and the infotainment display takes some time to send the error signal to the instrument cluster. The owner simply switches the car OFF and ON and this goes away. There is even the official fix which you can get by visiting the local Mahindra dealership.
- 4×4 Control Placed Awkwardly – Finally, some people have mentioned online that when they place a bottle in the cup holder between the front seats, they accidentally hit the 4×4 drive controller unintentionally. However, this is something that the owner has never faced. These are some of the main pros and cons of the Mahindra Scorpio N.
