Australian media reviews the newly launched Mahindra Scorpio N and looks pretty impressed by the SUV. The de facto rivals to the Scorpio N are the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, even though they are positioned more toward the higher end of the segment in terms of price and creature comforts. The media is pumped about the Scorpio N, which seems to do all that without burning a hole through your pocket. This reviewer calls the Scorpio N the pride of India.

The reviewer is left impressed by the off-roading capabilities the Scorpio N offers. There are various drive modes on offer including 4×4 high-range and low-range. That enables a formidable performance when taken on hardcore off-roading tracks. Even more impressive is that it doesn’t compromise too much on on-road comfort and ride quality. The man highlights the point that it strikes a great balance between the two, but it doesn’t set a benchmark in any.

In terms of the interior and features, the SUV is quite loaded. The cabin has a black and brown colour theme with features like a touchscreen infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, premium dashboard materials, a 6-seat arrangement (7-seat available later), an electric sunroof, steering-mounted controls and more. But there are no ADAS functions, which is a slight negative.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is launched in two variants for the Australian market – Z8 and Z8L. Both these come powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine that generates 129 kW (175 PS) and 400 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is an 8-speed automatic gearbox powering all four wheels. Accentuating the off-roading prowess, it has a low-range transfer case and rear-locking differential. The claimed fuel economy is 7.2 l/100 km. The prices are $41,990 and $44,990 respectively.
