Mahindra has launched the XUV700 in the Australian market and the first impressions of the reviewer are out.
A prominent Australian car expert reviews the recently launched Mahindra XUV700. It is an affordable alternative to the Nissan X-Trail and Mitsubishi Outlander. In fact, the prices range from as low as $36,990 for the AX7 to $39,990 for AX7L top trim. Note that these are drive-away prices making it the most affordable 7-seat mid-size SUV Down Under. With proven success in the Indian (home) market, it aims to woo Australian customers next. Until now, the professional reviewers seemed to be quite impressed with what is being offered.

The hostess likes the exterior design of the XUV700 with the striking C-shaped LED DRLs that surround the LED headlamps, chrome-plated vertical slats on the grille with the twin-peak Mahindra logo in the middle, sporty bumper, LED fog lamps on the edges and the upright bonnet lending a sporty stance. On the sides, there are stylish alloy wheels with chrome plating under the window frame and a split-LED taillamp cluster at the rear with a sporty bumper.

Driving Impressions
The hostess is quite impressed by the way it drives. The engine feels responsive and the automatic transmission is quite smooth. The handling characteristics and the ride quality are also decent and there is not as much body roll as one would expect from an SUV this heavy. Taking the XUV700 on a testing track, she was very impressed by the precision that the light steering wheel demonstrated. The Frequency Selective Dampening suspension also wooed the reviewer. All in all, she was able to experience better driving dynamics than she had expected.

Mahindra XUV700 comes powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion direct-injection turbo petrol engine that generates a healthy 149.2 kW and 380 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels. It has a 7-year / 150,000 km factory warranty and a 7-year RSA. Talking about its ground clearance, the SUV sits 196 mm above the ground. The fuel consumption is a cool 8.3 l / 100 km. All-in-all, it has a powerful engine that is capable of offering a decent performance emerging as a worthy rival to its competitors.

Mahindra is expanding its presence in many international markets. Note that it has always been present in the Australian market but the customers only knew it for its rugged SUVs or agricultural equipment. However, with a product like the XUV700, it showcases the future of the brand. It offers stylish SUVs with the latest tech, convenience and safety features. Meanwhile. there’s no compromise on the ruggedness and reliability when it comes to these SUVs. It will be interesting to see how the customers react to this new-age SUV from the Indian auto giant.
