The Audi e-Tron Sportback has been spied testing the first time and the sloping roofline with a boot deck has been well executed. The rest of the car will most likely remain unchanged.
Audi launched its first electric vehicle – the Audi e-Tron – earlier this year. The e-Tron comes in the form of an SUV but Audi had already made its intentions clear about coming out with different versions of the e-Tron at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year by showcasing the Q4 E-Tron Concept. Now, a near production-ready version of the Audi E-Tron Sportback – the coupe-SUV version of the E-Tron – has been spotted testing and that too without any camouflage.
The Audi E-Tron Sportback prototype, as seen in the images, gets a sloping roofline and the optional side cameras replacing the conventional mirrors. Oddly enough, the roofline end with a small boot deck which looks quite neat and has been well executed, we must say. The proportions have been well maintained. There’s also a mild duck-tail spoiler over the boot. The tailgate still got some duct tapes concealing the LED taillight running across the newly designed rear.
Other than the redesigned rear end of the e-Tron Sportback, the rest of the design remains pretty much similar to the standard e-Tron. It will also remain pretty much unchanged under the skin. That means the e-Tron Sportback will be powered by the same twin-motor setup which belts out 400bhp and 660Nm of peak torque. However, the e-Tron Sportback could see more power and torque figures considering that Audi will position this as a slightly sportier version of the electric SUV. The car will come equipped with a 150kW fast charging facility as well.

Audi also unveiled a new entry-level variant of the e-tron electric SUV a couple of months ago. The e-tron 50 as its called is about 120 kg lighter than the e-tron 55 and is cheaper than the latter as well. This weight saving primarily comes due to the usage of a smaller battery pack. The Audi e-tron 50 is scheduled to be launched in 2020 in international markets.

As for this Sportback version, the Audi e-Tron Sportback is expected to be globally unveiled at the 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show. It will go on sale sometime in 2020. Just like the standard e-Tron has made it to India, we expect the Sportback version to come to our shores as well.
