We had earlier reported the details of the Audi A7 sportback, with expected arrival in India in the first half of the year 2015. It seems Audi is right on schedule with that -Typically German- with recent spy-shots showing the Audi A7 Sportback facelift being tested here in India. Now usually Audi does not use camouflage while testing in India hence this car was shot in broad daylight without any trace of a veil. This facelift on the A7 receives some minor tweaks here and there just to keep the vehicle in trend and alive in the imagination of the prospective buyers. PRICE: Expect the A7 Sportback to be around the Rs. 90 Lakh price tag.
The Changes:
The highlight of this Audi has to be the Matrix LED headlamps, which have debuted on the recently launched A8 facelift. These Matrix LED Lamps, work in co-ordination with the car’s navigation system, and adjusts the beam according to the road conditions. In Audi’s words, “it’s the first electronically controlled glare free high-beam system in the world.”
The car also boasts of changes to its LED tail lights and new bumper with integrated trapezoidal exhaust tips. Inside the cabin, Audi has kitted the car with a new MMI system with touch interface and Nvidia graphics processor. The car also gets new materials and inlays for the dashboard and seats.
Mechanically, the A7 now comes with an updated 3.0 L diesel V6 unit that puts out 268 HP and 600 Nm of torque as opposed to the old engine that produced 241 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7 speed automatic gearbox.
The A7′s biggest competitors are the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and the Mercedes Benz CLS-Class, both of which have not been updated for the Indian market. With the 2015 Audi A7 Sportback, Audi is poised to lead the pack.
