Who says luxury is pricey? Talk to Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz and they’ll tell you what affordable luxury means. The companies have some real high performance cars in their lineups but their main aim as of now seems to garner a huge chunk of the pie known as the affordable luxury car segment. Mercedes Benz will make use of the A-Class and B-Class cars for bringing them volumes whereas BMW will be relying on the 1-Series and 2-Series for this uphill task. And giving the German compatriots a run for their money will be the A1 and A3 cars from Audi.
Audi intends on bringing the A3 to the Indian market in near future and will come as the least priced sedan in the German car marquee’s lineup. The Audi A3 will compete with the CLA from Mercedes and the 1-Series sedan from BMW. Audi India CEO Mr. Michael Perschke had stated a while ago that the India market would not readily accept a premium luxury hatchback and as a result, the company would not be launching the A3 hatchback in the country. He did not state that the company would not be bringing in the A3 and we believe that was because the A3 launch is in the pipeline for us.
You can see the rendering of the Audi A3 sedan in the picture and it has been created by our friends back at Auto-Swiat.pl. The Audi A3 sedan has the front fascia of its hatchback sibling and looks like a younger one of the Audi A4. The Audi A3 will start bringing in a lot of volumes for the company in India as well as all over the world. The least priced Audi sedan will be instrumental in Audi’s road to the top spot in the Indian luxury car market.
The Audi A3 has a length of 4.4 meters which is around 0.36 meters less than its elder sibling, the Audi A4. The A3 sedan concept first broke cover at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and later on was showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which clearly stated the company’s intentions for India. The production version would not be much different from the concept version and the production version is expected to be showcased at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show later this year.
