Ather has launched the 450 and 340 scooters in Chennai, after Bangalore. The bookings will commence soon for the same and both of them also get more expensive.
Ather has successfully commenced its operations in Chennai and the showroom has opened up at Wallace Garden Road. Nungambakkam. The new showroom is twice the size of one in Bengaluru and has already started gaining a lot of popularity.
The Ather 450 goes for Rs 1.31 Lakhs and the 340 is priced at Rs 1.19 Lakhs in Chennai, after deducting the FAME-II subsidy of 27,000. The scooters are costlier than in Bangalore, by Rs 9036 and Rs 8444 respectively.
The bookings are scheduled to commence on July 24. The prices of the same are expected to go down as the government lowers the GST rate for EVs from 12% to 5%, in the Budget 2019.

In Bangalore, the deliveries have commenced successfully. As for Chennai, the deliveries are expected to commence shortly and the scooters are already sold out for the year. As of now, there are ten fast charging points at malls like Forum Vijaya, offices like AtWorks and cafes, restaurants and grocery stores.
The deliveries will commence in September, while the second batch will come out in November and December. You can rent the Ather electric scooter, for an amount of Rs 2517.
Ather 450 uses a 2.4 kWh battery pack, that somewhat delivers 7.4 BHP and 20.5 Nm of peak torque. The top speed achievable here is 80 kmph. It recently received a new Eco Riding mode, which limits the speed to 45 km/hr.
Other two modes – Sport and Normal, offer a riding range of 55 kms and 65 kms respectively. These figures are ARAI-claimed and not real-world range. The sport mode produces the same figures but offers slightly better acceleration.

Features onboard include Fast charging at 1km/min rate, Reverse parking assist, 7-inch LCD touchscreen display, Onboard navigation and notification alerts, Over-the-air functionality, Front and Rear disc brakes, LED headlights and tail lights with Auto-Turnoff feature and Self-Cancelling Indicators.
Reportedly, Ather has already started working on another scooter, which will be mainly for the masses. It is likely to be priced around the regular 125cc scooters, basically under Rs 55000-70000.
