Aston Martin is an iconic British luxury performance car manufacturer that needs literally no introduction. The brand has been delivering top notch products for a couple of decades now and year after year it brings something new and interesting for its fans. This year in June the manufacturer launched the latest super sports car AM 310 Vanquish in Italy and yesterday it launched the same in Mumbai.
Expanding its portfolio at the higher end the company has priced the car at Rs. 3.85 core ex-showroom Mumbai. Now the Indian portfolio comprises of the Vantage, the Rapide, the DB9 and the DBS and don’t forget the ultra exclusive One-77. While the Vantage priced between 1.8 and 2.8 crore is the cheapest sports car from Aston Martin stable, the One-77 is the most car in India and is priced at over Rs. 20 crore.
While we wonder why the Vanquish has been positioned toward the pricier band, our answer lies in the fact that more than 80 percent of the sales of Aston Martin come from the pricier models.
“The initial belief was that we will sell a lot of entry-level cars like Vantage and a few of the high-end variants, but it has turned out to be the other way around. Cars retailing at upward of Rs 2.5-3 crore account for 80% of the 40-odd cars we have sold so far,” said Lalit Choudhary, director, Performance Cars, the official importer of Aston Martin cars.
There car does not have a direct competition but going over the price of car, it will go against the Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari F-12 and Lamborghini Aventador.
