Aston Martin, staying true to their image of designing dynamically flawless looking cars, has revealed the V12 Vantage S Roadster. It is infact the V12 Vantage S without the roof and even though the Vantage bodystyle has been around for more than a few years, and with just a few tweaks on the latest model the car still manages to look fresh and modern. The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster uses the famous V12 from the company and with the top down its literally going to be music to the ears every time you decide to floor the gas pedal. “The V12 Vantage S Roadster is the mechanical embodiment of our company’s exceptional spirit,” said Marek Reichman, Director of Design, Aston Martin. “Beautiful, powerful and spirited it is as spectacular to listen to as it is to look at. The new roadster is truly a treat for the senses with, underlying all this, the capacity to deliver one of the most dynamic, exciting and stirring driving experiences in our current range.” So let’s get you a low-down on this potent combination of looks and performance, The V12 Vantage S Roadster.
Price & Expected Launch:
There are no words on how much V12 Vantage S roadster is going to cost, but expect a hefty rise over the Coupe’s £138,000 base price (Approximately Rs.1.5 Crore). We expect to see the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster in showrooms in Europe by late 2014, it could come to India soon after.
The Roar:
The V12 Vantage S roadster sports the 6.0-litre V12 engine that dishes out a hefty 565 BHP and 620 Nm torque. A 7-speed paddle shift automatic replaces the old 6-speed manual transmission, dropping about 20 Kg of weight from the vehicle. Aston Martin engineers worked with Bosch engine management systems, tuning the V12 to have a flat torque curve available from just off idle. The new V12 Vantage S Roadster is not only the quickest accelerating convertible ever built by Aston Martin, but also has the distinction of having the highest top speed too. The 0-100 KMPH sprint is swept aside in a measly 3.9 seconds, and the top speed clocks at a mind numbing 323 KMPH. To achieve this performance, Aston Martin kept the car light and carbon fibre components help in doing just that. A lightweight exhaust system based on the exhaust from the One-77 is what is responsible for that boisterous engine roar.
The Look:
The Vantage S Roadster truly has me mesmerized, it carries forward the design and styling cues as the Coupe which is a stunner in its own rights. The Roadster features optional ten-spoke forged wheels, plus a multitude of appearance packages to add yet more carbon fiber on the exterior of the car. Inspired by their earlier concept and racing cars, the Vantage has a new front grille, straying away from the typical aluminum vanes in favor of a more open and aggressive arrangement.
The Toys:
It looks spectacular, Packs quite the punch under the hood and when it comes to features, The Vantage S Roadster holds its ground with the same gusto. The roadster fits in Aston’s three-stage adaptive damping system, allowing the driver to control the vehicle’s handling for the road and the track. The power steering, gearshift response, dual levels of ABS, and exhaust note can all be tuned from the driver’s seat –Did a certain James Bond smile approvingly ?-.
Carbon ceramic discs are standard on the new roadster, meaning braking performance should more than match whatever the V12 can throw at it.
An excellent finished product yet again by Aston Martin with impeccable styling and The V12 makes it the Beast behind the beauty.
