Ashneer Grover is a famous shark who was a judge in the first season of the hit reality show Shark Tank India that aired last year and often talks about his expensive cars.
In an interview, Ashneer Grover explains how he thought that he was buying the Mercedes GLS that belonged to MS Dhoni. The former Managing Director (MD) of BharatPe was the favourite judge in Shark Tank India Season 1 and gained a lot of prominence among the masses on social media after the show ended last year. At the moment, it is in its second season but Ashneer is not a part of it anymore. In various interviews, he talks about his passion for luxury cars. Here’s what he said about the Mercedes GLS.

Ashneer Grover on Dhoni’s Mercedes

A prominent part of his lifestyle is his innate love and fascination for luxury cars. We have previously reported that he owns a slew of luxury and performance cars. But he prefers to buy these second-hand. He believes that he doesn’t get too emotional about it if there are some scratches on the car as it is already used. Otherwise, it would cause him stress if he ends up scratching a brand-new car.

There were many reports about him buying a second-hand Mercedes GLS that had a VIP registration plate of Jharkhand. Now, everyone knows that MS Dhoni hails from Jharkhand. The guy who sold the GLS to Ashneer told him that this luxury car belongs to MS Dhoni. After looking at the number plate, Ashneer instantly believed it and didn’t bother to verify this fact. As it turns out, it was not Dhoni’s car but belonged to a real estate company. It was sold to him under the impression that it is. Nevertheless, it doesn’t bother him much as he would’ve bought it anyway.

Mercedes GLS Specs
Mercedes GLS is a luxury SUV that a lot of celebrities in India, and abroad own. It is, essentially the S-Class of the SUV range from the German luxury carmaker. In its top 450 4MATIC trim, the SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine with a 48V electric setup that produces 362 hp and 500 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission duties are carried by a 9-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels via Mercedes’s trademark 4MATIC drivetrain. The price tag on this is a cool Rs 1.40 Crore, on-road Delhi.
