Ashneer Grover, the ex-Managing Director of BharatPe, has stirred up social media with a distinctive post featuring what he claims is the world’s inaugural “cross-breed” Tesla. The photograph captures a vehicle spotted in Delhi’s Karol Bagh. Contrary to expectations, this intriguing automobile is not a Tesla creation but rather a BYD Atto 3, an electric SUV with a Boulder Grey variant. Adding to the twist, the vehicle proudly displays the iconic “Tesla” branding on its rear, creating a notable and unconventional combination that has caught the attention of social media users.

In the social media post, Grover conveyed a blend of amusement and appreciation for the vehicle, labeling it as the “world’s first ‘cross-breed’ Tesla.” He humorously mentioned that a Delhi resident had quite literally “built his dream” in Karol Bagh. The featured vehicle is the BYD Atto 3, where BYD represents the Chinese company Build Your Dreams. Notably, the BYD Atto 3 is recognized for its charging efficiency, requiring approximately 10 hours for a full charge when utilizing standard charging methods.
This unconventional alteration has garnered attention, coinciding with notable developments in the electric vehicle sector. Meanwhile, Tesla, under the leadership of CEO Elon Musk, could establish a local manufacturing facility in India, particularly in Gujarat. There is widespread speculation that an official announcement regarding this initiative may be unveiled during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

BYD Atto 3
It’s important to note that the BYD Atto 3 isn’t an entry-level car with a bargain basement price tag. The starting price for the BYD Atto 3 is Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting its higher-end positioning. Noteworthy features of the Atto 3 include a one-touch open/close tailgate, roof rails, and electrically heated and adjustable ORVMs, contributing to its appeal. However, in a contrasting perspective, one can almost envision Ashneer Grover playfully remarking, ‘Ye sab doglapan hai’. After all, it makes sense to say something like this upon encountering such a car. Right?
