Aprilia Tuono street bike was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. A top official of the brand has confirmed that it might get a bigger engine than RS 150.
At the 2018 Auto Expo, Aprilia showcased two new models, specifically for the Indian market. RS 150 and Tuono 150 would be launched in India in the 150cc performance motorcycle segment.
Aprilia Tuono 150 is a semi-faired street bike and the RS 150 is a fully-faired sportsbike. Both will share the same chassis, suspension and engine. The fairing and bodywork will be different, so will be the riding position.
In a recent interview to ET, a top Piaggio official has confirmed that both the bikes will be launched in India by 2020. RS 150 will get a 150cc engine, but Aprilia Tuono might get a bigger engine.

The engine details are unknown yet, but we expect it to range between 150-250cc. Piaggio confirmed it at the Auto Expo, that it wants to consider the entry-level premium motorcycle market, which ranges from 150-300cc.
Meanwhile, Aprilia RS 150 comes with a 149cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, that is able to produce 18 BHP and 14 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
So, we expect Aprilia Tuono to deliver power figures between 20-25 BHP and torque ranging between 18-22 Nm. In terms of capacity, it is equivalent up to a 200-250cc motorcycle.

Tuono 150 sports a low-placed handlebar, semi-faired design, step-up single seat, a large engine bash plate and a beefed-up fuel tank. The headlamp cowl is identical to the one on RS 150.
If it goes for a 200-250cc engine, it will compete with the likes of KTM Duke 250, Yamaha MT-15, Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Honda CB300R.
Aprilia Tuono is confirmed to debut in the next 12-14 months. It will be manufactured in India at Piaggio’s plant in Maharashtra. In a couple of months, we are expecting to see some spy photos online.
