A while back Superbikes and Sports Bikes were not very popular in India but lately, with the launch of international brands and their latest motorcycles in India, the story has changed drastically. We know that Piaggio is all set to re-introduce Vespa brand in India with the first model being Vespa LX 125, but as per the latest piece of information the company is planning to get even more aggressive and will soon be launching a new Aprilia model. Aprilia is speculated to come with a 200 CC model of the Aprilia RS4 sports motorcycle that will compete with the recently launched KTM Duke 200 which is one of the few affordable sports bikes in India. Honda is also bringing its Honda CBR150R to compete with it head on. Other popular bike in this segment is the Yamaha R15 version 2.0 launched in India in 2011. We have done a comprehensive comparison of these three bikes here – Honda CBR150R VS Yamaha R15 Vs KTM Duke 200

The RS4 is a smaller version of the globally acclaimed Aprilia RSV4 Factory and it is expected to borrow a 200 CC engine from one of the products of Piaggio’s line-up. Piaggio will price the bike in accordance with the pricing of Duke 200 and will sell it through Piaggio dealerships and not Aprilia dealerships.

Aprilia currently sells only 6-7 models a year which is why it is reluctant on opening standalone dealerships but Piaggio has long term plan for the Indian market and it will proceed further accordingly. The RS4 125 carries the typical Aprilia look which has made the brand popular globally. It is powered by a 125 CC, 4 stroke, single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC, engine that generates more than 15 BHP of maximum power.
