A new 160cc Maxi scooter from Aprilia is under development, for the Indian market. It will be the most powerful scooter in the market, with SR150 and Vespa 150 scooters.
A couple of months back, we got some spy shots of the upcoming Aprilia products in India. Spy shots of Tuono 150, RS150 and a Maxi scooter surfaced, indicating their debut in India.
Now, Bikewale reports that a new 160cc maxi-styled scooter from the Italian company is coming to India. The scooter is almost ready and will be launched with BS-6 engines.
The expected launch for the scooter is early next year, well before the emission norms kick in. Reports suggest that it has been fully developed in Italy, with some inputs from our engineers as well.

As per the reports, 90% of the styling has been done as per the Indian buyers. However, the overall styling, chassis and feature list have been decided by the Italian designers.
Maxi-styled scooters are usually large touring friendly scooters. They carry a large front apron, a huge footboard and relatively smaller rear portion. These scooters are very popular in the European markets.
Currently, Suzuki Burgman Street 125 is the only maxi-styled scooter in India. Although, Burgman is not a pure maxi-scooter. It is inspired by that design, but does not carry the maxi-styling.

The Aprilia Maxi scooter will be powered by the same 155cc engine that comes on Vespa SXL 150 and SR150. However, the engine will follow a complete different state of tune, mainly aiming fuel economy.
The 155cc air-cooled produces 11 BHP and 11.4 Nm of peak torque. Probably, the maxi scooter might be tuned for a better top speed rather than quick acceleration.
As of now, there are no further details available on how will it look and what features will it get. The suspension and braking parts will not be different from that found on SR150.
