Anupam tweeted from his official account, “Am cancelling my planned purchase of a Tesla … ticked off”. This came after his account was left with no blue tick. Needless to say, this was met with hilarious and honest responses from other Twitter users. There were some other users who pointed out that Anupam Mittal’s Shaadi.com has a similar business model where one can get a premium account by paying an additional fee. Therefore, when Elon Musk is doing the same thing, how can that be an issue. He is a businessman as well. This user wrote, “Isn’t it hypocrisy? One who charges premium on@ShaadiDotCom for the same concept but throws tantrum for $8 per month while being a consumer of other platforms.”

Whatever the case may be, we think that since Elon Musk has bought Twitter, he has the right to do anything he wants. Being a businessman, it is understandable why he has levied this fee. As a result, however, there are many eminent personalities, both in India and abroad, who don’t have the blue tick against their names. It would be interesting to see how they react to this in times to come.
