Replying to the Twitter user about his question on Tata Motors, Anand Mahindra replied, “It’s a privilege to have strong competitors like @TataMotors. They keep reinventing themselves and that inspires us to do even better … Competition spurs Innovation ..” This reflects his sportsmanship in applauding the rivals for what they are doing great. Tata Motors has achieved new heights in the passenger car segment in the last couple of years and now challenges Hyundai for the second spot in monthly sales consistently. Mahindra is also greatly positioned at the 4th or 5th spot regularly.

The next step for Mahindra is to foray into the electrification realm with a concrete plan of introducing a ton of electric SUVs over the next few years. The first one is planned to be the electric version of the existing XUV300. We might see it on our roads by the end of this year (2022). Thereafter, the will be an onslaught of electric SUVs including, perhaps, a coupe electric SUV that might be called the XUV900.

As far as Tata Motors is concerned, its plans of introducing the second and third-gen EVs are well on course. It has unveiled the CURVV electric SUV based on the second-gen platform and the Avinya EV based on a bespoke third-gen electric platform. These products clearly indicate the direction that the future of mobility is heading toward in India. With Tata and Mahindra being active in the electrified future, Indian products are well on their way to competing at the global level.
