As Mumbai’s Coastal Road Tunnel opens for the public, Amitabh Bachchan shares his experience of travelling inside it. This engineering marvel is 10.58 km in length and has 16.5 km of interchanges with 4 lanes on each side. There are two tunnels which are 12.19 m in diameter each. The length of these tunnels is 2.07 km. This makes these the largest tunnels by diameter built by tunnel boring machines in the country. The undersea tunnel has been built at a cost of ₹13,983.83 crore! Since it is now open to the public, it will make the lives of millions of people easier.
Amitabh Bachchan Travels in the Coastal Road Tunnel
The legendary actor recorded his journey while on the road inside the tunnel. He captured the experience and shared it with his over 37 million Instagram followers. Many other cars are seen driving within their lanes in the tunnel. It is possible that there are CCTV cameras and strict speed limits which is why everyone is driving sensibly and at moderate speeds. Amitabh Bachchan writes, “Went first time in the TUNNEL – Enter before Haji Ali and out Half way to Marine Drive .. a Marvel !!”
Using this route, people can reach from Marine Drive to Worli in a matter of 7 minutes. It took Rs 14 Crore for the construction of this epic tunnel. It will be connected to the Bandra Sea-link. This is yet another prime example of unprecedented engineering feats in our country. The Indian economy is rising rapidly and such architectural and engineering specimens contribute heavily toward making it surge exponentially. We shall keep an eye out for more such proud accomplishments of our beloved nation.
Author’s Note
We are thoroughly impressed and inspired by the childlike nature of the veteran actor. He is constantly excited about new adventures and happenings around him. This is yet another example of that. As soon as he enters the tunnel, he goes to Instagram and shares his experience of this case. We hope to be as enthusiastic as him about life and everything surrounding us when we get to his age. This should serve as a massive motivation for everyone to remain curious about new things. That is one way of staying young irrespective of the biological age.
