Maruti Suzuki Alto is by far the highest selling car in India and it owes this success primarily to the fact that it is quite a value for money proposition. The Alto F8D got itself a major overhaul and became the Alto 800 last year. But the premium offering in the lineup, the K10 did not get any overhaul. Now Maruti Suzuki is preparing Maruti Alto K10 facelift which is expected to come out by Diwali this year, exactly an year after the Alto 800 was launched. The Alto K10 was launched in August 2010 and the facelifted version is expected to breathe in some fresh air in the three year old car.
The car’s mid life make over is expected bring some cosmetic changes to the car while it will remain similar to the original unit in the mechanical department. The car is expected to get beige interiors, an all new upholstery and a new audio system on the inside. The car will also get tweaked on the outside with the changes expected to be restricted to tweaking of bumpers, headlights and grille of the car.
The current car is powered by a 1.0 litre K-Series petrol engine that gives out a maximum power of 67 BHP @ 6200 RPM and a peak torque of 90 NM @ 3,500 NM. The car has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.2 kmpl and the real world mileage is around 17-18 kilometres to a litre which is quite good considering the fact that it is quite a hoot to drive. The facelifted version is expected to come in with a slight bump in price but it will get additional features to justify the price increase.
