Have you ever heard of airbags on bikes? This technology can certainly reduce the casualties during two-wheeler accidents.
Till now, we have heard about Airbags on four wheelers. To comply with the upcoming safety regulations, all the four-wheelers will get driver and passenger airbags as standard fitment.
Based on the front impact during an accident, the system deploys the airbags. The driver’s airbag is installed on the steering wheel and that of co-passenger, on the dashboard. The airbags inflate which prevent any serious injuries to our bodies.
If two-wheelers use this mechanism, the safety of bikes and scooters will be enhanced. The casualties and major injuries on two-wheelers would gradually reduce too.

A video has surfaced online showing how airbags on a bike can actually work. The safety technology has been patented and is under development. For more details, you can log on to the website airbagforbike.com
In this video, you can see that the biker hits the side of the car while travelling at a high speed. As soon as the bike hits, the airbags in a form of a seat/cover is deployed and ejected from the seat of the bike.
The airbags form like a protective shield around the rider, which ensures maximum safety. With the airbag, we can also see a belt which will ensure that the rider remains held on to the airbag.

The belt unfastens automatically when the detected crash is not severe. The belt also unfasten when the rider tries to stand up while the bike has been stopped.
This safety feature will only work when a bike is travelling at a certain speed limit when the motion sensors and gyroscopes detect a sudden acceleration or deceleration.
The company is encouraging engineers and investors to be a part of it. The idea seems to be nice and can actually be a revolution in the safety features for two-wheelers.
