Kia recorded sale of 12,850 units of the Seltos in October, thus taking total sales to 26,640 units since August. That’s an average of 8,880 units per months. The Seltos has managed this popularity despite the slowdown in the automobile industry.
Its been just three months since Kia’s operation in India and the company has had their best sales yet in the month of October with 12,850 units sold. Out of them, the carmaker reportedly sold 2,184 Seltos SUVs on Dhanteras (October 25) itself. It is popular in India for purchase of a new vehicle, among other consumer buys.
The Seltos was launched in India on August 22 and in the first month itself, Kia sold 6,236 units of the Seltos in just eight days. In September, Kia despatched 7,554 units of the Seltos to its showrooms across the country, moving up to third place in the Top 5 SUV and MPV chart. Its market share also expanded to 3.09% in the UV segment. That followed by robust sales in October, Kia is well placed to challenge the two best selling SUVs in the country – The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Venue – for the top spot. Currently, Kia claims that they have over 60,000 bookings in hand and is aggressively driving production at its 3,00,000 units per annum Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh to meet the surging demand for the Seltos.

There are several reasons why the Seltos is proving to be so popular in the country. It is already BS-6 compliant, it comes in a wide range of configurations but most importantly, Kia has priced the Seltos very aggressively. Kia’s pricing strategy of the Seltos for all of its 16 variants virtually covers every price point in this segment. With a starting price of Rs. 9.69 lakh for the entry level petrol Smartstream G 1.5 HTE model and going up to Rs 15.99 lakh for the diesel 1.5 CRDi HTX+ (6AT) and Petrol Smartstream 1.4 Turbo GDI GTX (7DCT) and GTX+ top-end variants, there is a Seltos at every price. The Kia Seltos continues to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV500 and the Renault Captur in India.
