The auto trunk opener in Ciaz is the first in its segment
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the best selling C segment sedan in India and now the car also gets an auto trunk opener as an accessory. This is the first in its segment and the sedan competes with Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
The auto trunk opener on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is enabled by extending their foot beneath the rear bumper of the car. This feature comes handy when both of your hands are full and you cannot open the boot by long-pressing the button on the key.
This additional accessory costs around Rs 3390. This feature is exclusively available for Ciaz as of now and we expect it to come to the XL6 too. The latter is a newly launched car and in short, is a premium version of the Maruti Ertiga.

Currently, Maruti sells the Ciaz in two engine options – a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both the petrol and diesel are the in house engines and are shared with the Ertiga and XL6, the latter only comes in the petrol trim. Both the engines are BS4 compliant.
The 1.5L petrol motor produces a total of 103 bhp with 138 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option sticks to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a torque converter unit. The petrol engine also comes with a mild hybrid system as standard across all trims.
Talking about the turbocharged diesel engine, then the 1.5L capacity motor churns out a good 95 bhp with 225 Nm of peak torque on tap. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only.

Mind you, Maruti will discontinue their diesel engines post BS6 so that means the current diesel engine line up which includes the 1.3-litre DDiS, fiat sourced engine and the in-house 1.5L will be discontinued.
Maruti diesel portfolio sticks to Swift, Baleno and the Dzire which comes with the smaller 1.3L unit while the Ciaz and Ertiga houses the 1.5L engine. Maruti has also said that, if the demand still persists after the discontinuation of the diesel engine then they might rethink to bring back its engine.
The prices of Maruti Ciaz starts at Rs 8.2 lakh for the base trim and the top model fetches up to Rs 11.39 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
