Suzuki Motorcycle India now acquires the third position for the largest scooter maker. Access 125 has helped Suzuki overtake Hero Motocorp for the position.
Just last month, Suzuki Motorcycle India registered its highest ever domestic sales in India. Now, the manufacturer has managed to overtake Hero Motocorp in securing its position for the third-largest scooter maker in India.
As expected, the Suzuki Access 125 has helped the company achieve this position. For the period of April-September 2019, Suzuki sold 3,41,928 units of scooters. Last year, for the same period, Suzuki sold 2,91,847 scooters.
For the month of September, Suzuki sold 63,382 units, including both scooters and bikes. The cumulative sales for April-September 2019 stood at 4,19,676 units, seeing a growth of 13.08% over the year.

The first position is secured by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, with a whooping sale of 17,32,579 units for the period. However, the sales of HMSI registered in 2018 for the same period were 21,82,860 units.
At the second position, we have TVS with 5,98,617 units sold in April-September 2019. The Y-o-Y sales of TVS have also been down by a small 7.19%. Interestingly, Suzuki is the only big brand to achieve positive sales for April-September 2019.
The major credit for Suzuki’s success goes to the Access 125, which is the best-selling 125cc scooter in India. Amongst the scooters, it is usually battling for the 2nd or 3rd best selling scooter position with TVS Jupiter. On average, the scooter manages to garner more than 50,000 units from the sale.
Suzuki Access 125 comes with a 124.6cc fan-cooled engine that produces 8.7 BHP and 10.2 Nm of peak torque. Being the lightest in its segment, the acceleration figures of Acces are better than a lot of 125cc scooters.

As for its other scooter, the Burgman Street is another popular 125cc scooter. However, the Burgman is put as a more premium offering, priced at Rs 68,000 (ex-showroom). It gets a maxi-styling with the same 125cc engine, but more features.
