Now we can confirm that the upcoming Bajaj electric scooter will be named as “Chetak”. Yes, the iconic two-wheeler is making a comeback with a modern zest.
As we know, Bajaj Auto is launching its first electric scooter in India on 16th October. It will be launched under the Urbanite brand, which will be the sub-brand for all the electric two-wheelers from Bajaj.
Now Rushlane reports that the new electric scooter will be named as Bajaj Chetak chic. The iconic scooter, which became a family member of many Indian households is set to make a comeback.
Bajaj Chetak was one of the popular two-wheelers back in the 80s and 90s. Going by the name “Chetak Chic”, we expect it to be styled like a retro-scooter, just like the Vespa scooters.

As of now, there are no details on the engine specifications, battery capacity and more. However, it will be a mass-market electric two-wheeler and will go up against the Ather 450 and Okinawa i-Praise. That’s why, our price expectation for it stands around a Lakh.
A couple of times, it has been spied testing under heavy camouflage. It gets alloy wheels, a retro-styled headlamp, telescopic suspension at the front and a disc brake as well. Further details will come up nearing the launch.
Despite having a retro-styling, it will be packed with many upmarket features like LED headlamps, LED tail lights, Bluetooth-integrated speedometer, USB charging port and much more. We expect a BLDC motor and a lithium-ion battery pack to come onboard.

Not only this, but the Bajaj Chetak might also be offered with an internal combustion engine. A couple of times, it has also been spied with exhaust mufflers and silencers. With new scooters, it will mark Bajaj’s re-entry in the scooter segment, after nearly 7-8 years.
