Being sold in only a diesel engine, Maruti Suzuki Brezza outshined its competitors and bagged the first position in overall sales. Interestingly, the Brezza also became the best selling SUV (compact plus mid-size) for September 2019.
With the new entrants to the compact SUV segment, this particular segment is gaining popularity among people. And Maruti Brezza is one such SUV which rules this segment and beats its competition in September sales.
Maruti Brezza September sales accounted for 10,362 units as compared to the 7190 sales in August. The Brezza has been a solid competition to others in the market but lost its popularity for a short while with the new entrant, Hyundai Venue.
One of the reasons for the humongous number of sales can be the reliability of Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market. Also with the discount and offers in the festive season could have led to a larger number of sales for Brezza.

The third main reason could be the Maruti’s new plan of warranty for all its diesel cars in its portfolio. The manufacturer introduced a free 5 years or 1 lakh kilometres warranty pack. Currently, there are no discounts on the Hyundai Venue.
Maruti Brezza is the only compact SUV in its segment which comes in sole diesel engine only. And with that reason too the sales number are high.
Model | Sept’19 | Aug’19 | MoM Growth |
Maruti Suzuki Brezza | 10,632 | 7109 | 45.76% |
Hyundai Venue | 7942 | 9342 | -15% |
Ford Ecosport | 3139 | 2882 | 8.92% |
Tata Nexon | 2842 | 2275 | 24.92% |
Mahindra XUV300 | 2942 | 2532 | -1.58% |
It is the Hyundai Venue which sees the most degrowth when we consider the month-on-month sales chart. It saw degrowth of 15%. This compact SUV beat the Brezza in sales when it was launched but the latter rolled back and acquired the first position in no time.
Maruti Brezza is offered in a 1.3-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine only. It is tuned to 89 bhp along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. Mind you, the power figures of the Brezza are lowest in the segment.
