The Tuscon facelift boasts of a radical new design, something we have not seen in any other Hyundai before. It might also get hybrid powertrain options.
Hyundai has been caught testing a mid-life facelift of the Tuscon internationally. The test mule was undergoing some high altitude testing and although it was well camouflaged, a lot of new design elements could be clearly seen. And the design is quite radical this time. The Hyundai Tuscon facelift does not look like anything currently in Hyundai’s lineup.
As can be seen from the images, the Tuscon facelift sports a completely new face with a massive grille, unlike anything we have seen on any Hyundai before. The grille is multi-layered with several slats and with the single-piece glass louvres on the face, it looks a similar to the Mercedes-Benz EQC. Quite a coincidence, we must say. However, the headlamp setup with the fog lamps below are not much clearly visible. The face is quite busy which is further accentuated by a lower air intake which has a curved upper portion spanning the width of the front fascia.
Although the test mule came heavily camouflaged in profile, we expect some major changes here as well. It certainly looks bigger in profile than the current Tuscon. It is also expected to come with a completely redesigned rear section which should be quite contemporary. Other things to note are the new alloy wheels which look similar to the ones on the Venue, only a couple of sizes bigger and the wheel arches too have been squared off. We also expect the production model to come with roof rails and some body claddings.

Hyundai is also expected to introduce a new set of engines with the Tuscon facelift. Currently, the Tuscon is powered by 2.0L, petrol and diesel engines in India and you have the option of both manual and automatic gearboxes. Hyundai might introduce smaller, turbocharged engines with the new Tuscon. There might be a hybrid or mild-hybrid engine on the cards as well.

The new Hyundai Tuscon facelift will make its global debut sometime in 2020. After the model goes on sale in Europe and America, it will eventually come to ASEAN countries. It is expected to arrive in India either late next year or in early 2021. The new Tuscon sure will turn head with that radical styling.
