Toyota is also expected to launch a new base variant of the Glanza and the current models will definitely see a price hike after that.
Toyota Glanza marked 11,500 sales since its production from April 2019. The car was launched in June this year and competes with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
Toyota Glanza sales have been increasing month by month since it was launched. The Japanese manufacturers sold 1,804 units in July followed by 2,322 units in August and 2,952 in the month of September.
The hatchback is just a rebadged version of the Baleno and other than the badging on steering wheel, alloy wheels, front grille and rear profile nothing is changed. It carries the same BS6 engine too under the hood. Following the Glanza, next in line from Toyota will be a rebadged version of Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga.

Inside, the car carries an all-black theme with contrast upholstery. It gets the same 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth as connectivity features.
Other features like automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, push-button start/stop, LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Light, LED Taillights and others.
Toyota Glanza comes with a sole petrol engine only. The 1.2-litre, Dual Jet, Dual VVT, four cylinder gets the SHVS mild hybrid technology while the 1.2L VVT continues with the normal setup.
Both the engines produce 90 bhp and 83 bhp respectively and come with 5-speed manual transmission as standard. It is only the non hybrid engine which comes with a CVT transmission too.

The mild hybrid engine set up is available with the base trim, ‘G’ and comes only with a manual gearbox. The ARAI certified fuel economy is 23.87 km/l. The other petrol engine comes with the top spec ‘V’ trim and is available in both manual and automatic transmission. The ARAI certified mileage is 21.01 km/l and 19.56 km/l respectively.
Another main highlight of the mild hybrid engine in the Glanza is that it is cheaper than the Baleno by up to Rs 65,000. And other variants of the hatchback also see a decrease in about Rs 10,000 in prices.
The prices of the Toyota Glanza starts at Rs 7.28 lakh for the base trim and top model fetches till Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
In other news, Toyota Kirloskar Motor also sold a total of 102013 units in the domestic markets for September 2019. Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The consumer sentiment continued to be subdued in September which has reflected in the sales slowdown in the industry. Thanks to the Navratri and Diwali festive sparkle around, we expect the consumer demand will see the much needed revival resulting in better retails.
