Once launched, the engines are expected to comply with the latest BS6 emission norms.
Tata Altorz is the most awaited car in its segment and its launch has been one hot topic in the auto industry. Now, new reports suggest that Tata is all set to launch the Altroz somewhere in early 2020.
At the time of its launch, Tata Altroz will come in three engine options – two petrol and one diesel engine. And if reports are to be believed then all of the engines will be BS6 compliant.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno rival will borrow the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Tiago. It makes 84 bhp and a peak torque of 114 Nm. Another engine is the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder a turbocharged unit from the Tata Nexon which produces close to 112 bhp. The latter can also be seen in the Tiago JTP.

The 1.5-litre oil burner from the Nexon will be put in Altroz too. However, the power figures will be detuned to 90 bhp. It is expected to come with a 6-speed manual transmission and with an automatic gearbox to follow later.
Tata Altroz will come with a floating touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new flat-bottom steering wheel is expected once the car is launch and so will be the updated features in this segment.
Automatic climate controls, steering mounted controls, cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring system, semi-digital instrument cluster along with other convenience features the car will get.
Safety features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system and seat belt reminder will be made standard across all variants. The top-end trims could see the addition of more airbags but that will incur to expensive cost.

Apart from the list of features, the looks are the plus point for Tata as it attracts a lot of people. It sure has my attention. The new-age design philosophy and the platform works well and in future, we can also see an electric Altroz.
Once launched, Tata Altroz will directly compete with the Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and the popular Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The upcoming hatchback is expected to see a price range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
