Riding high on the success of Kia Seltos, the manufacturer has plans to make it big with the launch of Stinger, Soul EV, Niro EV and other global models in India.
Kia Motors just made its debut in India, with the Seltos mid-size SUV. The SUV has already started garnering high sales figures in its very first months of launch. The manufacturer had earlier confirmed that it would only focus on premium cars here.
Now, ET Auto reports that Kia is actually planning to get popular global modes like Stinger, Soul EV, Niro EV and Sorento for India. However, all these models will be imported in India, rather than produced locally.
Kia Stinger is a mid-size performance car and is considered a hot-sedan. It comes with a powerful 3.3 Litre V6 petrol engine that produces 365 BHP and springs up to 100 km/hr in just 4.7 seconds.
The Stinger was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, however, the manufacturer confirmed that it wouldn’t be launched. Another popular model from their stable is the Kia Sorento, which might also be launched.
The Kia Sorento is based on the Hyundai Santa Fe, which will go against the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner and Endeavour, in terms of prices. As of now, Hyundai does not sell the Santa Fe in India.

Amongst the Niro EV and Soul EV, only one of them might make it to the Indian shores. Both are sub-4 metre electric SUVs, which will offer a decent range and come at a price range of around Rs 15-20 Lakhs.
Meanwhile, Kia is launching the Carnival MPV in India next year, which we might see at the 2020 Auto Expo. It has already been spied testing in India, and Kia will position it as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta.
