The new-gen Gurkha is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo and it will get a BS6 ready 2.2-litre diesel engine which is sourced from Mercedes.
It is the Force Gurkha which directly gives competition to the tough offroader Mahindra Thar and a new version for the former will be launched in 2020. The SUV was spotted on Indian roads recently.
The new spy shot of 2020 Force Gurkha is completely camouflaged but what can be seen that it retains the same old boxy silhouette like the current generation. The expected changes are on the exteriors, revamped interiors and a new BS6 compliant engine.
The tough off-roader is expected to see some cosmetic changes like the inclusion of LED DRLs and LED Headlights. Also, the new model will carry a stronger body which will suffice with the crash test norms and it will continue to sit on the ladder on frame chassis which gets a multi-link rear suspension.

Force Gurkha will continue to retain the working snorkel, headlamp guards and roof-mounted luggage carrier which not only gives the SUV an aesthetic stance but also makes it a practical vehicle altogether.
The all-new Force Gurkha will also comply with the new safety norms which comply with the latest government regulations. Also, it will continue to comes with a 4×4 transfer case.
Under the hood, the new-gen Gurkha will see a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine sourced from Mercedes. The engine will be BS6 compliant and we expect a certain increase in power from the upcoming model.

The ongoing Gurkha produces 85 bhp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm from the 2.5-litre oil burner. The Xtreme trim of the SUV churns out 140 bhp and torque of 321 Nm. Transmission option remains the same to 5-speed manual gearbox.
The all-new Force Gurkha is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be pitted against the likes of Mahindra Thar which is also undergoing in its process of the second generation.
