The next-gen Hyundai Verna is expected to launch at the 2020 Auto Expo and the new model will definitely push the sales for the sedan.
Hyundai Verna is in the Indian market for quite a while now and the popularity of this C segment sedan is such that it beat its rivals in the August Sales. The car competes with the likes of Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and much popular Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
With the slowdown of the automotive industry and the falling pace of the sedan segment, Hyundai Verna August sales saw a dip of 52% on YoY sales. The MoM sales declined to 15.50%.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which has been popular in this segment lost the game by just 1 unit. The YoY sales are as low as to 77% with just 1,596 units in Aug’19 being sold as compared to the 7,002 units in Aug’18.

Japanese carmaker, Honda sold a total of 1,593 unit for Aug’19 as compared to 2,790 units for the same month last year. In Jul’19 the sales for the City sold a total of 1,921 units.
Skoda Rapid saw a marginal dip of just 3.18% with sales accounting up to 791 units for Aug’19 as compared to 817 units in Aug’18. However, the Rapid saw of growth of 11.88% for the MoM sales when compared to Jul’19.
Volkswagen Vento sales decline is reported at 47.79 percent. Down to 283 units from 542 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales are down by 24.33 percent from 374 units in July of 2019.

Toyota Yaris sales is down to 215 units. Sales decline is reported at 79.47 units, down from 1,047 units sold in Aug ’18. MoM sales is up 321.57 percent. The looks phenomenal on account of a low base of 51 units. The company has now introduced a new Toyota Yaris variant to introduce a lower entry price point.
Talking more about the Hyundai Verna Currently, Hyundai Verna is available with 4 engine options, petrol and diesel mated to a manual and automatic transmission. The two diesel options, 1.6L turbocharged making 126bhp with 260Nm of torque mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission and the lower end 1.4L turbocharged diesel engine churning out 89bhp with 220Nm of torque mated to 6-speed manual transmission.
The Verna also a 17.77cm of the touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link connectivity. The sedan gets rear parking sensors, keyless entry, projector headlamps, LED Tail lamps and 16′ diamond cut alloy wheels.
In other news, the 2020 Hyundai Verna has been unveiled and is expected to launch at the Auto Expo next year. The new sedan packs fresh new design on the outside and gets new features on the inside.
