As Renault will discontinue diesel engines in the BS6 era, they might introduce a new range of petrol engines for the Duster, Lodgy and Captur in India.
Renault had earlier announced that they would be discontinuing with their diesel engines once the BS-VI emission norms kick in. Currently, Renault offers a 1.5 Liter, four-cylinder diesel engine in the Duster, Lodgy and Captur. Once the BS-VI norms become effective, this engine will be discontinued and the Duster, Lodgy and Captur could get brand new petrol engines that Renault offers in some other international markets.
The 1.5 Liter diesel engine from Renault comes in tow states of tune – 85PS/200Nm and 110PS/245Nm. The alternative to this engine could be the 1.0-litre TCe and 1.3-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engines that Renault offers in Europe. The former engine develops 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. You can also opt for a CVT.
The other 1.3-litre TCe turbo-petrol engine has been developed by Renault’s alliance partners – Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi – along with Diamler. This engine finds its way into the Duster, Captur, and even the Mercedes-Benz A-Class along with a few more cars from Renault’s partners. This engine comes in several states of tune depending on the car it is being offered in – 115PS, 130PS, 140PS and 160PS. Peak torque is rated at 270Nm.
