The Hyundai 45 Concept has been named after Hyundai’s Pony Coupe concept, which was showcased 45 years ago in 1974 and focuses on electrification, autonomous technologies and intelligent design.
Motor shows are more about flamboyant concept cars than production ready ones. And there has been quite a few of them at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Hyundai unveiled the rather cool 45 electric vehicle concept at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 45 concept has been named after Hyundai’s Pony Coupe concept, which was showcased 45 years ago in 1974.
The idea behind this 45 concept is that it should be able to offer an entirely new in-car experience in terms of in terms of self driving technology. The 45 concept debuts a new era of Hyundai’s design language that focuses on electrification, autonomous technologies and intelligent design. In fact, the overall design of the car has been inspired from aircrafts of 1920s and the name ’45’ actually refers to the 45 degree angles that form a diamond shape silhouette at the front and rear.
Hyundai says that the new concept uses a minimalist theme with clean lines and zero complexity. It is a testament to Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. This still being in concept form, there is no word yet on the technical specifications or interior features of the car. All we know is that this is a fully electric car and the batteries could be positioned outside or below the passenger compartment.

However, Hyundai has said that the 45 concept features a few technological developments that might be featured in future Hyundai cars. These include features like a hidden camera monitoring (CMS) system that is equipped to handle self-driving applications. It also features side cameras instead of traditional wing mirrors – as we are seeing with all new cars these days – to overcome visibility challenges caused by dirt gathering on the mirror, thus progressively offering less visibility.
