The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportiva is essentially a cosmetic exercise on the outside and inside by Toyota’s TRD division but it receives no engine modifications at all.
Toyota will be launching the Fortuner TRD Sportiva in India on September 12. It has already been showcased in India to dealers at a closed door event in Bangalore back in July this year. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportiva is essentially a sportier looking Fortuner, the design being done by TRD, short for Toyota Racing development.
TRD is a subsidiary of Toyota who specialize in tuning and modifying regular Toyota cars around the world. The Fortuner TRD Sportiva is however only a cosmetic exercise. The engine remains exactly the same and receives no modifications at all. The TRD division usually localizes their design in the sense that the TRD-spec Fortuner that will be sold India would look different from a TRD-spec Fortuner sold in any other country.
So what does the TRD-spec Fortuner get you over a standard-spec Fortuner. Well, for starters, it gets TRD badging in red colour on the car’s front and the rear. It also gets completely revised bumpers and front grille which look much more aggressive. On the inside, there are TRD badges on the seats as well as on the instrument panel. Seats will be finished in leather and will also have contrast Red stitching.

The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportiva in India would be powered by a 2.8 liter, 4-cylinder BS4 diesel engine which puts out 174 hp and 450 Nm. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Fortuner TRD does not get the top-spec 3.2-Liter engine which means it will also lose out all-wheel drive and will only come in a 4×2 variant. It also does not get the option of a manual gearbox. It will be sold in a single dual-tone color option of a Black Roof with Pearl White Colour body.
