In order to improve the sales of the Toyota Yaris, the Japanese manufacturer have been introducing new variants in order to compete with its rivals.
Toyota Motors recently launched new J optional and V optional variants of the Yaris with added features and upgrades. Now, Toyota has brought the G Optional trim to the Yaris which sits between the J and V trims.
Toyota Yaris G Optional trim is made available in both manual and transmission option. Talking about the features, the updated model gets chrome grille, shark fin antenna, ORVM mounted turn indicators, projector headlamps and it sits on 15-inch silver alloy wheels.
The cabin too gets automatic climate control, cooled glovebox, dual-tone interiors, a 4.2-inch TFT display for the instrument cluster and the latter gets waterfall design. The cabin now feels upmarket and premium when compared to its competitors.

The other features include keyless entry with smart entry, push-button start, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable ORVMs and multi-function steering wheel. The sedan also gets height-adjustable driver’s seat as the convenience feature.
Safety features for the same include three airbags (dual front and driver’s knee), Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist. Furthermore, it also gets front and rear fog lamps, rear defogger, driver and passenger seat belt reminders, high-speed alert system, speed-sensing door lock and central locking.
Mechanically, nothing is changed and the G optional trims get the usual 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 18 bhp along with a peak torque of 140 Nm. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-step CVT-i gearbox.

The prices of this new model start at Rs 9.63 lakh for the manual transmission and Rs 10.83 for the 7-speed automatic transmission. The car competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna.
