Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge Edition comes in three-seat configuration and the loss of seats has been compensated by opulence and indulgence.
Volvo already had the uber luxurious XC90 Excellence in India but then they thought that they could do better. That is why Volvo has now come up with the XC90 Excellence Lounge Console which has been launched in the country for a price of Rs. 1.42 crore, ex-showroom. India is also the first market where this car has been introduced.
The Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge Console – that’s quite a long name though – basically is a three-seater version of the regular seven-seater iteration of the XC90. What do you get for losing out so many seats? Well, bucket loads of opulence. It takes over from the standard XC90 Excellence and replaces the front passenger seat with a multi-functional module that includes a rising leg-rest, a fold-away touchscreen and lockable storage compartments. This is in addition to all the features you find in the XC90 Excellence and Volvo says the Excellence Lounge Console is ‘a limited edition work of art’.
The multi-functional module does a lot of things for you. It houses a 17-inch touchscreen display for all your entertainment purposes, can act as table and also as footrest and also offers you additional storage area. You also have regular luxury features from the XC90 Excellence which includes massage function and ventilated seats which is controlled by a touchscreen display placed between the two rear captain seats.

The Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge Edition also includes a refrigerator between the two seats, complete with bottle and glass holders, a heated/cooled cupholder and handmade crystal glasses made by famous Swedish glass maker Orrefors. Further, the cabin is draped in the best of Nappa leather with high quality open-pore wood inlays in several places. It also gets a 20-speaker, 1400-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Also, the gear lever has been finished with a Orrefors crystal gear shifter to further add to the opulence.

The engine under the hood still remains the same though. It is powered by a 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged engine that develops 401 bhp and 640 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via an AWD system. The Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge Edition is positioned above the Excellence trim and will be sold in limited numbers only.
