India-spec KTM Duke 790 brochure has been leaked and we now know the technical specifications. It will launch between September 5 to 10 in India.
The KTM Duke 790 is a very hotly anticipated motorcycle and its been long coming from the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer. It was spotted at KTM dealerships sometime ago and now a couple of dealers have confirmed that the bike has started reaching the outlets and that the KTM Duke 790 will launch in India between September 5 to 10. Ahead of its launch, we now have the leaked brochure of the India-spec KTM Duke 790.
The KTM Duke 790 will be powered by a 799cc, parallel twin engine churning out 103 bhp of power at 9,000 rpm and 83 Nm torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Some of the highlight features on the Duke 790 include LED DRLs, a fully digital instrument console, disc brakes and Bosch cornering ABS. Also, the handlebar is fully customizable to suit the riding position of the rider.
It also packs in a host of electronic nannies. It gets a Bosch IMO engine management system with 4 riding modes – Sport, Street, Rain and a customized Track mode, traction control and cornering ABS. The motorcycle also gets a slipper clutch for seamless gearshifts and the rather unique exhaust has been designed ensuring better ground clearance and it also adds to the funky styling of the KTM Duke 790.

Other mechanical hardwares include a fly by wire system for improved dynamics and better fuel efficiency. A horizontally split crankcase also helps to keep the overall dimensions compact and weight to a minimum. The Duke 790 uses WP non adjustable USD fork in the front and preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. The brakes are sourced from Spanish brake maker J Juan which also supplies brakes for Moto2 teams.

This is the biggest KTM motrcycle one will be able to buy in the country and only 100 units will be brought to India for 2019 through the CBU route in the first phase. It will be priced at about Rs. 8.5 lakhs, ex-showroom. If KTM finds sufficient demand for the motorcycle, they will initiated CKD operations at the Bajaj Auto Akurdi plant, after which prices might drop. KTM dealerships have already started accepting booking for the Duke 790 and with the brochure now leaked, the launch in just around the corner. We can’t wait to see the KTM Duke 790 on our roads.
