The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 gets more power and torque from the same engine as in the standard GLB and also gets several mechanical and cosmetic upgrades as well.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the GLB sometime ago and it was only a matter of time before a juiced up AMG iteration of it would have come to existence. Yes, as you might have already guessed, Mercedes have now unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35. It uses the same 2.0L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine, tuned to produce much more power and torque than before.
The engine in Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 now produces 299 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and it also comes with the 4 MATIC all-wheel drive system as standard. Mercedes claims that the GLB 35 can sprint from naught to 100 kph in just 5.1 seconds – which is quite good for a seven-seater car – is electronically limited to 250 kph.
Numbers aside, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 gets several other mechanical upgrades as well. For starters, the Eco mode in the standard GLB has been given a miss and now the five driving modes are – Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. The AMG GLB 35 also gets reworked suspension with slightly harder compression, new steering column and transverse control arms mounted on the front axle to minimize body roll.
It also gets speed-sensitive power steering wheel and four-piston AMG brakes on all four corners for better handling and stronger stopping power. The AMG GLB 35 also gets an optional AMG ride control suspension which electronically controls the damping on individual wheels.
Being an AMG car, the GLB 35 obviously comes with some visual AMG design elements like the Panamericana grille up front, completely revised bumpers with larger air dams, new body claddings, new rear bumper and a mild diffuser as well. It also gets large 21-inch alloy wheels with low-profile rubber and while there are 19 and 20-inchers as well, they do not do quite the justice an AMG GLB.

On the inside, the cabin remains largely the same but gets some AMG-specific treatment in the from of contrast stitching on the dashboard, seats and door panels. It also gets an all-black treatment with carbon-fibre trims on door pads and faux silver on dashboard. It also gets features like MBUX infotainment system, touchpad on the central console and touch-control buttons on the steering wheel among others.

The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 will officially debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show and will go on sale in 2020. The standard GLB is yet to go on sale globally and is expected to arrive in India by next year. That means the wait for the AMG GLB 35 will be even longer here in India. The standard GLB is expected to be priced at around Rs. 45 lakhs, ex-showroom and the AMG version will be even more expensive.
