The MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 is an expensive but extremely exlclusive motorcycle that looks sensational and here’s all its highlights.
Motoroyale launched the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 in India yesterday. While it may look like an Adventure Tourer, MV says its a Sports Tourer. No, its not meant to go off-roading and apart from its relaxed ergonomics, its every bit a sports bike. In fact, this is perhaps the most everyday usable MV motorcycle you can buy for effortlessly munching miles on the highways and yet when you hit twisties, its equally rewarding. So here’s all the highlights of the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800.
Design
MV Agusta makes the most exclusive motorcycles in the world and the Turismo Veloce 800 is a sensationally beautiful looking motorcycle and its design has to be its greatest highlights. Visually, it’s immediately identifiable as a MV Agusta and the face seems to be lot inspired from the F3 and F4 fully-faired motorcycles. The motorcycle gets diamond shaped LED headlight, a tall windscreen, knuckle guards with turn indicators, a muscular fuel tank and an exhaust that looks identical to the Brutale 800’s unit. The completely exposed engine and parts of the trellis frame look amazing too.
Powertrain
The MV Agusta Tourismo Veloce 800 is powered by a 798cc in-line 3-cylinder engine that churns out 111PS of power at 10,150rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 7100rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that also comes with a bi-directional quick-shifter. The Turismo Veloce also features a counter-rotating crankshaft which negates the gyroscopic effect on the wheels, making the bike more agile and nimble. In case you did not know, this engine is the same engine that’s found in the F3 or the Brutale 800 and it has been tuned so that 90% of the torque is available from as low as 3,800 rpm.
Other Mechanical Hardwares
The Turismo Veloce 800 gets a steel trellis frame. Suspension duties are taken care by Marzocchi USD forks at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. Both the front and rear suspension offer preload, rebound and compression damping adjustments. It gets twin 320mm discs at the front with four-pot calipers and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear. The motorcycle gets 17-inch alloy wheels which come wrapped in 120/70-section front and 190/55-section rear tyres. The bike weighs 191 kg (dry) and has a top-speed of 230 kph.

Electronic Rider Aids
Other highlights of the MV Agusta Veloce 800 include the extensive list of electronic rider aids. The motorcycle gets four riding modes – Sport, Rain, Touring, Custom – an 8-level traction control system, MVICS electronic system with a full multi-map ride-by-wire throttle, a sophisticated EAS 2.0 electronic up and down gearbox and a hydraulically activated slipper clutch. It also gets a Bosch ABS system which allows for 9 different settings and has been paired with a rear-wheel lift-mitigation system.

Pricing and Rivals
The MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 has a stonking price tag of Rs. 18.99 lakhs, ex-showroom. Yes, its bizarrely expensive for an 800 cc Sports Tourer, but that the point of an MV Agusta. They are expensive and extremely exclusive, but still desirable. The MV Agusta Turismo Velocce 800 rivals against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800, the BMW F850 GS and Ducati Multistrada 950 in India in India, all of which are considerably cheaper.
