Renault has launched its new 7-seater car, the Triber, starting at a price of Rs 4.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It goes against WagonR, Grand i10- and Figo.
Renault Triber has been launched in India, as the most-affordable 7-seater car. Manufacturer’s latest offering comes as the first car in India to get an adjustable/removable third row of seating.
At a starting price of Rs 4.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom), Renault Triber might pickup a storm in the B-segment hatchback class. It comes in four variants, which are:
- RxE – Rs 4.95 Lakhs
- RxL – Rs 5.49 Lakhs
- RxS – Rs 5.99 Lakhs
- RxZ – Rs 6.49 Lakhs
Renault offers a single engine on the Triber, which is the same one from the Kwid. The engine now produces 72 BHP and 96 Nm of peak torque, which is slightly higher than the Kwid. You get a 5-speed gearbox as of now, but Renault will bring an AMT gearbox later. The claimed mileage of the car is 20 kmpl.

The Triber is actually built on an extended platform of the Kwid. The car is 3990mm long, 1739mm wide and 1643mm tall. Since you can customize the seating arrangement, the boot space of Triber is atleast 84 litres, going all the way up to 625 litres.
You have options of using it as a 7-seater, 6-seater, 5-seater and a 2-seater as well. The third-row seats can be removed very easily and you get the 60:40 split adjustment for the second row.

At this price range, Renault Triber comes with a lot of hatchbacks in the B-Segment class. It is now near to the Maruti WagonR, Celerio and the Swift. It also goes against Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo and Tata Tiago. Being the biggest in this class and also one of the most affordable, Renault has priced it very competitively.
