After launching the Ciaz with new petrol and diesel engines, Maruti Suzuki has now discontinued the old 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel hybrid engine.
Maruti had confirmed that it will discontinue diesel engines on all of its vehicles, including the age-old 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel and the new 1.5 Litre diesel unit. However, some of the models will be available with these engines till next year.
Earlier this week, Maruti discontinued the old diesel engine on the Ertiga, which now comes with both new engines. Now, Maruti has reportedly discontinued the 1.3 Litre diesel engine on Ciaz as well.
So now, the Maruti Ciaz will only be available with a 1.5 Litre petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine, the former now mated to a mild-hybrid system. Earlier, the older diesel engine came with the SHVS technology.

The 1.3 Litre diesel engine is a Fiat-sourced Unit which came right from the first-generation Swift and Ritz. The same engine powered all Maruti vehicles right from Swift to S-Cross, but in a different state of tune.
For the bigger cars, the engine produces 90 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque, whereas for smaller cars, it gave 75 BHP and 190 Nm. Whereas, the new diesel engine produces 95 BHP and 225 Nm of torque.
The upcoming BS-6 norms have compelled Maruti to shell out the older engine. Come April 2020, Maruti will phase out both the engines from all the models, but the new unit will come on bigger cars after a couple of months.

So, post-2020, Maruti might only sell petrol variants of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno. As of now, S-Cross and Brezza are only available with the old diesel unit. Maruti has confirmed that it will be launching the petrol units of both the SUVs soon.
The new 1.5 Litre diesel unit is an in-house developed unit, which is likely to be BS-6 compliant, but will be relaunched a couple of months after the emissions deadline. Maruti will equip the Ertiga, Ciaz, S-Cross and Brezza with the BS-6 diesel engine.
