The new-gen Polo will be bigger in dimensions and will carry loads of premium features. However, it will miss out on the virtual cockpit instrument cluster to keep up with the production cost in check.
Even though the sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo was revealed in 2017, it never made its way in India and now come to 2020, reports suggest that the new-gen version might be available soon. Also what’s new is the MQB AO platform on which the new Polo is based.
Ever since it was first launched in 2009, the Polo had been a great seller for the German manufacturers. The hot hatch made its way to the sporty looking and one with great performance under the hood.
Now come to 2020 and Volkswagen might introduce the all-new Polo based on MQB AO platform in India. The new platform uses high strength steel which not only makes the car lighter but also reduces emissions.

Recently Polo completed its 10th year anniversary and Stephen Knapp, Director of Volkswagen India, said “Polo is a wonderful product and is based on the MQB platform which you know we are going to launch the MQB A0 IN platform in India pretty soon. The Polo is a car for India and it’s bound to be a car for India.”
Counting on the next-gen Polo, it will be bigger in dimensions than the present one and will also add loads of features to give competition to its rivals. For starters, the new Polo is 4,053 mm in length and wheelbase adds to 53 mm while the ongoing model is just 3,971 mm in length and measures 2,469 mm in wheelbase.
With the increase in its wheelbase, it eans the cabin space will grow and make it roomier. In addition, the boot space is also grown from 280 litres to 351 litres in total. Also, the India based Polo will keep its length short so as to comply with the sub-4-metre length category.

Feature onboard will see a large touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, the virtual cockpit will see a miss on the India based model as it’ll make the vehicle costlier.
Safety-wise it will get dual front airbags as standard across all trims. The anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system, seat belt reminders will come as standard across all trims. Also, front parking sensors and availability of more airbags are expected with the next-gen Polo.
