For the past few months, we have not seen any UM Motorcycles product being sold in India. Reports suggest that the company will resume sales soon.
UM Motorcycles, an American two-wheeler manufacturer, came to the Indian markets a couple of years back. It tied up with Lohia Auto to launch four American-styled cruisers in India at an affordable price.
In the initial years, the manufacturer saw a good response in the market. However, over the years, competition tanked the sales of UM Motorcycles so badly that this year, it would barely cross 300 units of sales a month.
Moneycontrol reports that UM Motorcycles had paused their sales in India in April this year. That’s why no sales for the past 2-3 months. Now, it will restart its operations in India in the festive season this year.

UM has confirmed the news to Moneycontrol and currently, the manufacturer is undergoing a restructuring exercise. The dealerships and all will undergo some revision and the brand will be restarted as a much-needed makeover.
A couple of months back, there were reports of UM Motorcycles splitting up with Lohia Auto and the dealerships have also closed. UM has cleared the air on that as well and has dubbed it as fake rumours.
UM has four motorcycles in India from the Renegade series – Commando, Commando Classic, Commando Mojave and Sport S. All sport a 279cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 25.15 BHP at 8500 RPM and 23 Nm of peak torque at 7000 RPM.
The UM Motorcycles will also receive the ABS update which was long pending and we expect the bikes to come with a dual-channel ABS unit. The old school American styling will remain the same.

The Chill 150 ABS will be a retro-styled scooter and the third 150cc scooter in India. The DSR series includes adventure motorcycles and it is likely to come with a 125cc engine as well as a 200cc engine.
