Kia Seltos is scheduled to launch on Aug 22 and so far the bookings for the same have crossed over 6,000. The SUV is available in three engines and four transmission options.
The Seltos is the much-anticipated SUV from Kia Motors and the vehicle is available in a whole range of automatic transmissions ranging from CVT, AT or a DCT. This makes it the first SUV to get a variety of gearbox and it also includes a 6-speed manual as standard.
New information has been leaked that the DCT gearbox will now also appear on the top of the line petrol trim GTX+ of Kia Seltos. Earlier, the 7-speed transmission was only limited to GTX trim and only 6-speed manual gearbox was offered in the top of the line trim.
The GTX+ trim of the Kia Seltos is feature equipped and gets a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UVO connect technology. The connected car technology is the same as the one seen on Hyundai’s BlueLink. The UVO technology provides 37 connected features such as remote start/stop, navigation, voice recognition and among others.

Furthermore, it gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features. The mid-size SUV also gets first in segment an 8.0-inch heads up display. Other features like rain-sensing wipers, 7.0-inch MID, wireless charging, ventilated seats, front parking sensors, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, multiple driving modes, air purifier, dual-zone climate control and more.
Kia Seltos comes in various powertrain options which include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which churns out 115 bhp and 143 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner produces 115 bhp and 250Nm on tap.
The most powerful of the lot is the 1.4L turbo petrol engine which generates 142 bhp with 242 Nm of healthy torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT as standard and CVT for 1.5L petrol, a 6-speed AT for 1.5L diesel and 7-speed DCT for turbo petrol.

The prices of the Kia Seltos are not yet known but according to the recently leaked document it will be priced somewhere around Rs 9.99 lakh for the base trim and the top end trim will cost you Rs 14.99 lakh. Mind you, these are not the official prices and it will be announced on August 22 once the car launches.
Kia Seltos competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks Renault Captur and the recently launched MG Hector. If the price point is the same as the speculated ones then the Seltos will likely eat the sales of Hector, Harrier and the Creta. Kia Seltos received over 6,000 bookings in just 24 hours which indicates a good start for the company.
