The Tata Tigor EV is now cheaper by Rs. 80,000 after the government reduced GST for EVs from 12% to 5%. Tata has also introduced a new base XE variant for the Tigor EV.
The government recently announced a reduction in GST rates for EVs from 12% to 5%. This resulted in a price drop for the few EVs available in India. The Tata Tigor EV thus saw a drop by Rs. 80,000 in its prices after the GST rate reduction. Tata has also introduced a new variant for the Tigor EV and its now available in three variants – XE, XM and XT – and it has been priced from Rs 11.58 lakh to Rs 11.92 lakh.
These prices however do not include the TCS (1% tax levied on cars costing above Rs. 10) or the subsidies under the FAME II Scheme of the Government of India. Including the subsidy of the FAME II Scheme, the Tata Tigor EV gets a further reduction in prices of about Rs. 1.62 lakhs after the GST. The Tigor EV would retail for a price of Rs 9.96 lakhs for the base variant and Rs 10.30 lakhs for the top-spec Tigor EV XT inclusive of the subsidy under the Fame II Scheme but not including the TCS. All prices are ex-showroom Mumbai.

The Tata Tigor EV is still only available for commercial use or as public transport for government official and is not available for private buyers. The Tigor EV is pretty well equipped too. The mid-spec XM variant gets features like LED tail lamps, body colored bumpers and door handles, climate control unit, driver’s seat height-adjust, power windows and a Harman-sourced 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX.

The top-spec XT variant additionally gets 14-inch alloy wheels and power adjustable wing mirrors. All variants of the Tigor EV, including the new base XE variant gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard safety features.

As for the powertrain, the Tata Tigor EV uses a 16.2kWh battery pack that powers a 72V, 3-phase AC induction motor which makes 30kW (41hp) and 105Nm of torque. Tata claims a range of 142 km but in the real world, the Tigor EV has about 100 km of driving range. For charging, the Tigor EV can be charged up to 80% using a DC 15kW fast charger in 90 mins or the same can be achieved in 6 hours using a standard AC wall socket.
