Tata Harrier Black Edition will also get all-black interiors as a part of the treatment. The mid-size SUV competes with the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and upcoming Kia Seltos.
When Tata Harrier was launched in February, the SUV became an instant hit and for months it beat the sales of Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500. Now with the growing competition of MG Hector and Kia Seltos and the features these cars offer, the Harrier seems a little too offbeat to pick.
So to keep up with the craze of the butch looking SUV, Tata Motors will introduce a black edition to the Harrier in August. It sports a glossy black paint job on the outside and the 17-inch alloy wheels are blacked out. The skid plate on the front bumper and matte-silver element on the rear bumper have been blacked out too.
The interiors of the Tata Harrier black edition also receives an all-black leather upholstery ditching the brown one seen in regular trims. The faux wood on the dashboard gets replaced by a textured matte-grey panel.

We believe this all-black colour will become a part of colour choices Tata Motors has to offer – Ariel Silver, Thermisto Gold, Telesto Grey, Orcus White and Callisto Copper. The company also introduced dual colour options at a premium of Rs 20,000 more than the standard monotone colour.
Talking about the up-gradation of features, Tata Harrier now also gets an electric sunroof. At a premium of Rs 95,000, one can get this as an optional accessory and Tata Motors provide 2 years warranty for their product.
The SUV is a 5-seater and is based on the Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy and is built on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform which is borrowed from the Land Rover D8.

The features onboard include a large 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets 8-way driver adjustable seat, cruise control, engine start/stop, auto headlamps and among others. Considering its competition, MG Hector and upcoming Kia Seltos the features are not much but the coming months will tell if Tata Harrier can still pull out maximum sales than its rivals.
In other news, Tata Motors will also bring a 7-seater Harrier to the Indian market in early 2020. Under the hood, it will get the same 2.0-litre FCA sourced diesel engine but there will be an increase in power. It will churn out 170 bhp of power and 350 Nm of peak torque, the latter being the same. Transmission options will include both a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. The latter will also follow on the 5-seater Harrier too.
