Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will compete with the likes of Renault Kwid, Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Tata’s upcoming H2X Hornbill. It is likely to get the same 1.2L petrol engine but with detuned power figures.
As the trend of SUVs is getting the better taste of India, manufacturers are bringing in mid-size, compact and even Micro SUVs into the Indian market. One such manufacturer after the Mahindra is Maruti Suzuki which will bring its first micro SUV, S-Presso in September.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will compete against the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the upcoming Tata H2X Hornbill. The micro SUV will sit below the Vitara Brezza and is expected to carry at least 180 mm of ground clearance and a high seating position.
The exteriors of the car are likely to see halogen projector headlamps and sharp curves and line with the big rear window. The brand may also offer dual colour scheme as an option to appeal the young buyers.

According to Autocar India, the interiors will see dark-grey interiors and colour coded interior bits just like the one seen on Celerio. It will get a digital speedometer and infotainment screen mounted inside a large circular enclosure.
Expect the feature list of WagonR to come onboard the S-Presso. So, you can get a touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment, USB charger, a new MID Cluster and much more. Safety features will include dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, front passenger seat belt reminder and speed alert system as standard fitments.
The upcoming micro SUV is based on the Hearttect platform that is seen on other Maruti models. This platform not only makes the car light but also improves fuel efficiency and is made of high strength steel which is quite rigid.

Under the hood, we can expect a 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes onboard of WagonR, Ignis, Swift and Baleno. However, the power figures might be reduced so as to compete with rivals. We expect that the car will carry a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT when it is launched.
Since it will go against Renault Kwid, we can expect the prices of Maruti S-Presso to be well under Rs 5 Lakhs. Its top-end variants will overlap the prices of base and mid-spec variants of WagonR and Celerio.
