The next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 will be launched here in India on August 20, before its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Remember the Hyundai teaser we reported about last week? As it turns out, this new Hyundai in all probability is the next-gen Grand i10. The next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 was scheduled to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September but according to a latest report by CarandBike, the next-gen Grand i10 will be launched here in India on August 20, 2019, before it is launched in Europe or even Korea.
India remains one of the biggest markets for the Grand i10 and just like the i20 and the Venue, India gets to set eyes upon the new Grand i10 before anyone else. Originally scheduled for a simultaneous launch in India with the unveil at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Hyundai India has managed to get dibs on the car even before its global unveil and sales will commence right away when its launched on August 20.
When Hyundai released a sketch earlier this month, we were only speculating what this new car could be. From the rear quarter that was pictured in the sketch, we could tell it was either a hatchback or a crossover. Some portions of the wrap around tail lamps were visible along with the floating roof line design. But now we can confirm that it is the new Grand i10. Like with the second-gen Grand i10, India is the lead development and sales market for the new car too.

Interestingly, the next-gen Grand i10 that we will be getting here in India will exactly be the same that will be offered internationally. The last-gen model offered in India was a little longer in dimension compared to the international spec Grand i10. It was so to take on the competition of the Maruti Suzuki Swift which really suffered from a cramped rear seat.

The next-gen Grand i10 is based on the Hyundai Venue platform and this same platform will be underpinning the next Kia Picanto and Kia’s subcompact SUV codenamed QYI. The development of the new Grand i10 has been carried out in Korea and as well as in India, and it has even been spied several times testing in India. The new Hyundai Grand i10 is expected to carry forward a similar engine lineup from the current one, with a likely turbocharged GDi engine and DCT gearbox option also being on offer.
