Mahindra has released a new video wherein they show how the Thar Signature Edition is made and puts in alongside the original CJ-3 series Jeep to celebrate its legacy.
The current generation Mahindra Thar was at the end of its lifecycle and to put it to a befitting end, Mahindra launched the Thar Signature Edition of which only 700 units would be built. After these 700 units of the Thar CRDe, you wouldn’t be able to buy a Mahindra Thar in the country until next year.
The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition is priced at Rs 9.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It mainly gets cosmetic upgrades on the outside as well as the inside. The most important addition is that it now gets ABS, making it safety compliant.
On the exterior, the Thar Signature Edition gets a blacked out front grille, brushed silver on the bumper, new 16-inch alloy wheels, ‘Thar 700’ badging and Mahindra CEO, Anand Mahindra’s signature along with an exclusive new Aquamarine colour option. On the inside, you get black leather seats with Thar branding near the headrest.
As the present generation Thar is ending production, Mahindra has released a new video showing how the Thar is built so meticulously on its assembly line. The workers are shown building the outer body, installing the body onto the ladder frame chassis, installing the engine, adding wheels and finally putting on the badges before it rolls of the production line.
The Thar can also be seen alongside the original CJ-3 series Jeep in the video. Mahindra has been manufacturing these icons under license from Jeep. When put alongside each other, it shows the rich legacy that has been spanning over 7 decades and how the product has evolved over the years. Also, the Thar Signature Edition will be last of the Thar that’s built with original CJ DNA. The new Thar that’s coming next year will be based on an all-new platform.
